I believe that one of the most important life tasks each of us has is to bring our unique gifts into the world. Frequently, painful life experiences — traumatic events, attachment wounds, societal injustices — take precious life energy that limits our ability to bring these gifts into the world. I feel called to support people to lessen or remove emotional, cognitive or spiritual barriers that limit their full participation in life. This includes addressing and working with the impact of systemic racism and other societal forces on one’s life.

Since 2003 I have been learning, using and teaching the Internal Family Systems model of psychotherapy. Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a profoundly powerful and effective healing modality. IFS is a non-pathologizing, non-hierarchical means of working with the varied, difficult, and often contradictory thoughts and emotions we all have. IFS therapy offers profound support to connect with the healing core inside everyone of us (known as the “Self”) in order to be present for and to heal the parts carrying these difficult thoughts and feelings. This allows our natural unburdened state to be available to us — for creativity, play, love and freedom — and to show up as we were meant to before becoming so burdened.
